August 14-15, 2014 (115th & 116th Day)

August 14

It was partly cloudy, but pleasant.  As we were getting up, we noticed Peter and Sylvia were standing by the van waiting for us to come out.

Jenny prepared a hearty breakfast for us all.

Jenny's famous homemade biscuits! Delish!!!
(It won a blue ribbon at the fair, remember?)
Afterwards the grandkids wanted to show us crafts they had been making.  It is very important for kids to develop skills in whatever he/she is interested in pursuing.

We spent the day chatting, playing with grandkids and the cute kitten named George.   Andrew rescued 6-week old kitten from the side of the road not far from here. When he picked it up it was meowing loudly that broke his heart.  He tried to find the mama cat, but nothing was around.  He brought it home, got it cleaned up and was fed.  The family fell in love with him and decided to keep him.  George's fur has beautiful markings.

Erwin had a hard time deciding which one is more adorable!

We got grandkids a new playing game called Ladder Toss.  We also got two 1,000 piece puzzle boxes.  This is for when winter comes and they are staying inside.

After the Ladder Toss game was set up we played with grandkids.

Rest of the afternoon was spent on catching up news with Jenny and Andrew, playing with kids outside.

It was a quiet day, but nothing beats quality time spent with the family.

August 15

Another gorgeous day.  Again, the kids were waiting by the van door for us to appear! Another hearty breakfast prepared by Jenny.

Jenny took us out for a ride.  First stop was to check out the river that she and her family frequented for swimming/tubing.

Then to Springfield, West Virginia (WV) to browse/shop at Springfield Bargain Shop.  There were lots and lots of old stuff. Jenny found some and Erwin got a small glass cup to be used for melting butter in the microwave. Jenny is good at finding vintage stuff, knows when the price is a good deal or not.

We stopped at Food Lion grocery store in Romney, WV, then home.

Jenny decided to give George a bath and he did not like one bit at all, but it was necessary to get rid of fleas.

to get out of the sink

When we were in Lancaster PA we bought a dozen ears of corn on the cob for Jenny.

Erwin and Jenny shucking corn on the cob. Sylvia pitched in her help :-)

While Jenny was getting supper started grandkids were at a dining table playing various games.  Peter was still playing outside.
