June 24, 2015 - Galesburg, IL to Nappanee, IN

It was raining! :-(

Edith wanted to do a bit of sightseeing while in Galesburg, IL, but felt she would not be able to enjoy due to rain.   "Another time...", she thought to herself.

Yesterday the GPS was giving us an headache after we left Amana, IA.  Turned out that it needed to be updated to include the eastern part of the US. We needed wifi or internet to upload the map from Garmin.com, but wifi or internet was not available at that time. Today we had to rely on the map from either IPhone or IPad. Frustrating!

When we got everything put away we left Galesburg, IL at 9 am, got back to I-74 going to Peoria, IL.  It was still raining, but not as much as it was when we were up this morning.

In Peoria we got on Route 150 then 24. Yes, it was still raining :-(

We went through the town of Eureka, IL. President Ronald Reagan graduated from Eureka College in 1932.  The college has Ronald Reagan museum. We did not hang around in the town very long.

There were several nice looking old/rundown barns, but Edith did not take any picture of them because of the rain.  Also, the shoulder to pull of to was not wide enough for our Lil' Home (LH).

Finally the rain started to dissipate by the time we got to El Paso, IL (not TX).

Water tower in Gridley, IL
Weather started to clear up by the time we got into Chenoa, IL.  We took a rest break at Shell gas station.  Historic Route 66 attraction was not too far away, but we will come visit it another time.  Chenoa is a litter-free town. No litter seen on the road anywhere!!! We were impressed...

In Faribury, IL there was one roadside attraction Edith wanted to check off - Bouncy Horse Gallop.  If it had not rained earlier she would get out of the LH, walk up to get close-up shots of the horses, but the field was too wet and muddy.

It was 12:45 pm when we pulled into K&H Truck Plaza in Gilman, IL. It is a very popular dining place for truckers.  Erwin had a two piece fried chicken dinner with baked potato and Edith chose one baked pork chop wih two sides: baked potato and steamed broccoli.

We continued traveling on Highway 24, entered Indiana state line at 2 pm.

We made a brief stop in Logansport, IN, so Edith can get some pictures.

It is on Market St (at 3rd St), LogansportIN

From Logansport, IN we made a left turn to 25, then left to 31 before we reached Rochester, IN.  From 31 North we got on 6 East to Bremen, IN.

We checked into Pla Mor Campground around 6 pm.  We reserved a site for 4 nights, got site #416.  The campground has over 500 sites and is very nice.

Erwin prepared Chinese stir fry for supper.  After supper we went out for a walk, relaxed for the rest of the night.
