July 3, 2014 (73rd Day)

Even though we were up at 6 a.m. we had a very good night's sleep.  Blue sky with not one cloud in sight.

We left Flaxton, ND to get on Route 52 to go to Minot, North Dakota (ND). On way we stopped in Kenmare, ND, which is supposedly to be the goose capital. The route to wildlife refuge was closed.

In this same town there is another attraction to go to.  Old Dutch Mill Historic site is in downtown. The mill was built in 1928 and was restored during 1960's.

The scenery was beautiful when driving on Route 52 from Kenmare, ND to Caprio, ND

After arriving Minot, ND we went straight to the Railway Museum, but to our disappointment it was closed.  There was not much to see/do in Minot downtown, so we drove to check out Scandinavian Heritage Center.

The above building is an exact replica of a Scandinavian Church. It was built there then dismantled and shipped here and re-erected. It is a very impressive building used now for special Sunday services and weddings. There is a long waiting list for weddings.

Stopped at Marketplace to pick up a couple items that we needed for supper tonight.

Edith was getting tired of her hair that was now becoming harder to style and wanted to get an haircut, so she went to Great Clips.

Before and After!

Arrived in Minnewunka, ND around 6:30.. Looked for campground and asked a local guy where we should go.  He told us to check out Humphrey Memorial Park where it had picnic shelters and electric hookups.  We were not able to find it at first, but after driving around we found it.  There was nobody there, no office building, so we proceeded to set our camper van, hooked up the electricity.  Edith fixed pan fried diced beets, parsnips, carrots and petite potatoes.  They came out very delicious

After supper we walked over to see what Devil's Lake was like. The water edge looked very muddy, so we did not dare to wade in the water.

Back to the camper van we played cribbage for a while and Erwin won the game. After the game we went out for a walk and admired the sunset.
