June 28, 2014 (68th Day)

It was cloudy and 54˚

There is only one shower station for a campground that has over 200 sites.  Where we camped out we had to drive to the station to take a bath.

After breakfast we went to Jasper townsite, found a parking spot by the train station.  We strolled around the town, stopped at The Other Paw Bakery Cafe, got day old fruit buns. Sat down and ate our breakfast.

Coffee and rolls, mmm!

Walking down the street and browsing some stores.

Oh, you did not leave any for me?
Nice Logo!

When we were satisfied with visiting Jasper we headed back to the van and got on 16 East toward Hinton, AB.

Just out of Japser Edith spotted a bald eagle on an evergreen tree. Still in the park there were parked cars on the shoulder, so we knew there is something going on.. Oh wow! Two handsome bull elks, nice rack and body frame.

Few miles later..Whoa! Yes..Yes... Mountain goats with one kid drinking water.  There were two young guys that scaled the mountains then jumped off the cliff into the water scaring the goats away, but the goats came back to drink more water after the idiots left.

Stopped at Minette Hot Springs, lots of young bighorn sheep hanging around he parking lot, licking off something underneath vehicles. Salt??  They were not afraid of tourists.

Got two single entries for us to use the hot spring pool.  We stayed there for like about an hour.  Felt good, but Erwin said it is not as hot as it should be. Said the pool in Thermopolis, WY that he went to last year was hotter.

Decided to check in KOA campground early in the afternoon around 3 pm.  Even though the sign said "campground full" we went ahead and see if there was a cancellation or vacancy.  We were lucky to get site K08. Nice view of the mountains in the west.  It started to drizzle a bit.

Before we started supper we played Scrabble and Erwin won the game.

KOA had a kitchen site with 4 stoves and sinks, so we decided to use theirs. Erwin took over and prepared supper. We had ribeye steak and glazed carrots.

Open wider,  Dear!
After it stopped drizzling we walked around the campground, met campers who are traveling together to Alaska. Trip is 59 days. Their next destination after Hinton is Dawson Creek.

The dark clouds started to form and Edith hurriedly went out to take pictures of the Canada flag. Then it started to rain harder. Erwin read a book while Edith was working on our travel blog.

G'night!
