July 15, 2014 (85th Day)

Very chilly morning high 40's.  Apparently it rained all night long. It was drizzling when we walked over to the bathhouse.

After breakfast and reorganizing stuff in the camper van we checked out of the campground and got on 123 North to Whitefish Point to visit the lighthouse and Shipwreck museum.  Along the way we saw some interesting stuff.

A little early in the season for this!
You see these everywhere in Canada and the north country

In spite of the foul weather for photography we went ahead and got tickets. Admission for the lighthouse and museum was $32 for two of us. There were several buildings on the premises that the ticket holders can go in. There was a long line of people waiting to buy tickets.  Our first stop was to visit the Shipwreck museum.  It was very interesting and had lots of information on shipwrecks, lighthouse, captains, etc.

Guided tour to visit lighthouse keeper's living quarters:

Inside the lighthouse:

No, not my rubber Ducky, just something to remind everyone to watch their heads at that point!

See our camper van right there?

Sun finally coming out!

Yep, more ice cream!

After leaving the lighthouse we turned right on 123 in Paradise to go see Tahquamenon Falls.  Paid $9 to visit Lower Falls, then drive about 4 miles to see Upper Falls. Nice short walk down then 94 steps to see the brink of the upper falls.

We chose to stay on 123 west after leaving the falls to meet 28 past Newberry, MI.  We then got on I-75 to exit 392. We drove past Kewadin Casino & Campground, but we chose to drive little further down the road to find another campground.  It asked for $27 a night for non-lake view or $29 for lake view site. Yes, the campground looked very nice and peaceful, but we were not willing to shell out $$, so we turned around and went back to Kewadin Campground. It was a good decision we made because it cost only $10 a night.  The campground was well maintained and not far from the casino/resort. After settling comfortably on site #1 (very close to the bathhouse) we walked to the resort to register and picked up the bathhouse key.

Erwin fixed omelet for supper while Edith uploaded pictures from yesterday and today, then edited and added pictures to the blog.  We were too tired to walk to the casino to look around, agreed that we will check it out first thing tomorrow morning.
