Erwin and I were up at 5:30 am to get things ready for our epic road trip with the Newmar Alaska/Yukon Caravan. This is the first day of our 43 day trip.

The morning was beautiful and just right for our journey to Dawson Creek where we will spend 2 nights.
Steve and Karen, our wagonmasters, had already left for Dawson Creek, BC very early in the morning. Bears, the team of 4 rigs led by John/Pam/Nicholas, was the first one to leave at 7 am. Moose team of 5 rigs was the next to leave, then Eagles. Our team, Sea Turtles of 5 rigs, left at 7:55 am.
We got on PH Highway 60, then to Trans Canada Highway 16A (TCH), then it merged with TCH 16. We turned north to get on PH 43 (Exit #340). The road conditions were fair and there were some bumpy surfaces.
We, along with the rest of Sea Turtle team members, pulled into Rockford Bridge Trading Post at 9:25 am. Eagles team had just arrived before we did. We stayed around to take a break and to browse before we got back on the road at 9:50 am. None of us had planned on eating breakfast here.
We were back on PH 43 and continued on it for 140 miles before we got to Whitecourt, AB, but did not stop anywhere. There was construction on the Athabasca Bridge.
There was a sign "Moose Row" on the highway. There was one small casualty - a bird flew right onto the front panel of our Lil' Home. We won't know if the dash cam captured the incident until we review it either tonight or tomorrow.

We arrived Fox Creek, AB at 11:20 am, went to Little Smoky North Rest Room for a short break. After the break we continued on PH 43 until we stopped at another rest area in Valley View where there is a visitor center. The day was so pleasant that we all had our lunch at the picnic area.
The drive along PH 43 was very pleasant. We arrived Grand Prairie at 2:15 pm, took 43 Bypass to go to Grand Prairie Dinosaur Museum & Visitor Center.
The museum is in the lower level and they had so many interesting signs and artifacts. There is a large 40' feet high Sundial, the world's highest, outside of the visitor center.

We stopped at Beaverlodge, AB to get pictures of 15' high beaver perched on 19' long long. We, the Sea Turtles, had our group picture taken with the beaver sculpture.
We
arrived Dawson Creek, BC, and at Alberta/British Columbia border the
time zone changed from Mountain to Pacific (1 hour back).
Mile
0 RV Park was where we camped at for tonight and tomorrow night. After
settling down we the caravan members went to Sudeten Hall, which is
across from the campground, for buffet dinner. After dinner Joyce Lee from Dawson Creek Visitor Center shared local history and construction of the Alaska Highway.
