Since the Jeep is at the shop we cannot go anywhere, but to stay put. We waited until Erwin received a phone call from the manager at Fenton Automotive that the part is on its way over. He told us to wait until 4:30 pm to go over and get the Jeep back.
It was somewhat a blessing that we did not go out to explore because today was VERY windy. The Jeep was still at the "hospital", and we did not feel like biking today.
At 4:30 pm the campground manager called in taxi for us, and it transported us to Fenton Automotive. We could have walked, but there is a very steep hill going up. Not a wise idea to walk where there are no sidewalks on both sides of the road.
The manager at Fenton explained that the control module ("radiator brain") was out of commission; therefore the radiator fan quit working which caused the engine to overheat. What came next that neither one of us wanted to hear was that the part that came in today was not the right kind to replace the module. The manager apologized for receiving the wrong part. What?! Oh serious!?!?... Only one hour left before the store's closing!!! We really need to have the Jeep back before we start our trip to Edmonton, AB soon.
Knowing how desperately we were about having the Jeep back, the manager explained that there is a way to manually turn the radiator fan on by adding a switch near the dashboard. How does it work? You turn the switch on after starting the engine, and it will help cool the radiator while driving. However; there is one drawback, especially if you forget to turn the switch off. It will drain the battery and the Jeep will not start! Ok, fine go ahead and do it even if it meant having his employees work past the store hours. It took them an hour and half to get it all done.
After getting the Jeep out of the bay the manager called us over to show us how to operate the switch. A simple procedure, really, but the tough part is "will we remember to shut it off each time we shut off the engine?". After paying the bill we drove back to the campground and felt very relieved that we can continue our trip to Edmonton, AB Canada.
