March 12, 2017 - Sulphur, LA to Montgomery, TX

The weather app had an alert to let us know that this morning’s temperature was going to be 15˚ colder than it was yesterday.  The winds were blowing at 15 mph or more.
Definitely not a good time to go fishing. Erwin would have liked to try one more time.  The pelicans were “fishing” and most of them got their fill.

We left Intracoastal Parish Park at 10:30 am, got on LA-27 North to get on I-10 West.

We arrived Texas State Line at 11:30 am, went in Texas Welcome Center for a short break.  We picked up brochures and maps. There is a boardwalk in the back of the center, but it was too windy and cold, so we did not walk out there.
We did not leave the welcome center until 12:25 pm.  We took exit #853A (Highway 69/96/269) for Conroe, TX, where we will stay for 7 nights.

The road conditions on Highway 69/96/269 were terrible, very bumpy.  They need to be resurfaced.  There was construction on the I-10 bridge near Beaumont, Texas.
It was past 1:30 pm and we had not had lunch, so we pulled over to the shoulder past the intersection of Texas 105 and Highway 50 to eat lunch.
We checked into Lake Conroe KOA on Texas 105 at 3:30 pm.  We were assigned to site #140 (back-in with full hookups).  After the registration was done we unhooked the Jeep. Erwin followed the escort in a golf cart to the site.

It was still cold and windy and the sky was very grey.  Oh, at the registration we were given two yellow wristband passes for pool.  I think it’ll be too cold to go swimming this week, but wait and see.

We went to visit our friends, Patty and Paul for rest of the day.  They had puzzle out on the dining table.  Paul and Patty had most if it togeather, and we helped some.
