The morning was already very gloomy. We decided to go out for a tour of the Newmar RV factory in Nappanee, IN that makes our motorhome. Factory tours are given Monday through Friday at 10 a.m and 1 p.m. CST. Sorry there will be no pictures, we were not allowed to take pictures on the tour. :( The tour was very interesting and informative, we got to see how they made our Lil' Home (LH) and it was awesome to watch! They make and complete 8 motorhomes each day. It takes about 30 days to make one from start to finish, of course if you order the top of the line one it will take longer cause there will be many more options than the lower class ones. They make 8 different models. If we ordered one and took a tour while they were building ours, we could take all the pictures we wanted, just can't take pictures of someone else's unit!
Newmar Corporation was founded in 1968 and is built on Christian principles. About 80% of their employees are Amish and Mennonites.
After the tour we stopped by the “Kountry Klub”. It is one of the leading RV social clubs in the RV industry. It has an open line of communication between Newmar Corporation and other owners of Newmar RV’s. We decided to sign up to join the club. At its every rally there will be one Newmar technician for every 10 campers, so if there are 100 campers there will be 10 Newmar technicians on hand to help with maintenance, seminars, etc. It also offers special events all over USA, Canada and Mexico. The next rally will be at Albuquerque, New Mexico for the annual hot air balloon festival this coming October. We would love to attend this one but will have to forego it!
