Overcast and 66º
After breakfast Edith uploaded pictures to the blog, then posted Day 9 and 10 before we checked out of the campground.
Now to the East End, went one block away to check out St. Mary's Catholic church. Pretty inside.
Chose Fredericksburg Brewery for lunch. We had Brew's burger (split) with onion rings. Delicious!
Walked the rest of East End back to the van. Went to Opa's sausage store and bought smoked sausage.

Isn't that cute? Made of marzipan (a confection consisting primarily of sugar or honey and almond meal) and it is edible |
On N. Milam St to Enchanted Rock, but we found out there are no road trails to drive around the rocks, so we decided not to spend time here. Turned left on 965 to TX-16

Wires!!! Will you please get out of the way? |
Arrived Llano at 3:30 pm. Explored the town a bit, took pictures. There were several deer statues. Lots of deer processing/butcher stores in this small town!

Beats me how they got the deer to stand still for makeup! |

Cool bench! |

Unique welcome sign! |

Lovely metal boot! |
Got on 71 to go to Brady, rolling roads very pretty
Road construction on 71 near Valley Spring.
Edith checked for campgrounds in or near Brady, but found there were none.
Pulled over to watch and took pictures of horses and colts or fillies. The young ones ran, galloped and sprinted while the mom followed.
Now on 377/87 (Texas Forts Trail) to Brady
Checked out two Roadside attractions in Brady, TX

Heart of Texas The town claims this to be "The Heart of Texas" because it is situated very close to the state's geographical center |
We had supper at Chicken Express. It had wifi, so Edith brought in her laptop to edit and finalize the blog for 11th day of our trip.
Edith said she had to have a milkshake for her dessert, so we went to Sonic Drive-In and she got her milkshake!
Since there were no campgrounds around we stopped by Super Walmart to see if we can park overnight. No "Overnight Parking' sign was posted, so we went ahead and park there for the night. There were lots of semi trucks parked.

Beautiful sunset as seen from the parking lot at Walmart |
Edith enjoyed her second childhood, hell yeah! I will add it on my bucket list when I check some deer statues!!
ReplyDeleteYes, she did.. We discussed the other day and realized that it is impossible to see everything in a town we visit.
