It was raining when we were up. Two female campers, next to us, had parka jackets on. Not sure if it was because of the cold or the rain.
After breakfast Edith got down to making plans for upcoming trips after January 6, 2017. We plan to go to Gulf Coast and drive up along the coastline, camp out a couple nights at some places.
During the mid-morning Edith went out for a short drive to see what was out there in the prairie. She checked out the spot where Crested Caracara seemed to frequent, but it was not there. No wildlife at all. Just turkey vultures and blackbirds were flying around.

Erwin spent some time woodburning a new project: Portrait of a Wolf. He also reorganized the pantry, moved canned goods to a different area. He discarded some expired goods.

In the afternoon we sat outside enjoying the fresh air while doing what each of us was doing. Edith checked out some websites for ideas for our trip to the West this spring. Erwin was reading a paperback.
Since the day was gloomy Edith decided to fix slow cooker chili. She asked for recipes on Facebook and someone said to just dump whatever in the pot, add spices, etc. Ground beef, chopped onions, chili powder, salt & pepper, cumin, oregano, canned diced tomatoes, canned tomato sauce, one can of dark red kidney beans and one can of black beans. Let it cook for 8 hours on low. It was one hour left to completion, but Erwin was getting hungry, so he went ahead and fixed himself a large bowl of chili. He was pleased with how the flavor came out. Edith was not yet hungry, waited til about an hour or so to eat it. She liked it, but said it needed more salt (not good for ones who are on low-salt diet).
After supper we worked on the puzzle and finally got some pieces put together. It is still a long way to completion. We don’t know if we will ever finish it before December 29th.
