March 15, 2016 - Chapell Hill, Washington, Navasota & Montgomery, TX

We were feeling lazy after arising, drank coffee when Patty texted and asked if we would be interested in going on a road trip to various places.  Sure why not!  Our Jeep was still at the auto repair shop and we have no mode of transportation to get to places we want to visit.

It was around 10:30 am when we, along with Patty and Paul, left for Chapell Hill, TX via Route 105 to 6 South then 290 W.  It was a very pleasant drive and we got to see few bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush in the pasture, but it was not as plentiful. Perhaps in a week or two there will be lots of them.

We stopped at one church that has a cemetery in the back and it had some interesting tombstones.  Mostly German settlers.

We got on 1155 to go to Washington on the Brazos State Park, but we found out that there is an entrance fee to visit Barrington Farm and we decided not to go in. Instead, we went to Visitor’s Center where there were displays on the history of Texas.

Again! She wore a pink shirt!
She was lucky the longhorn did not charge at her...

Then to Navasota, TX where we stopped at Wrangler Steak House for lunch after gas fill-up.  Very good foods.  Erwin chose to have buffet style lunch. Paul and Patty got hamburgers and Edith had two fried pork chops.  We were very pleased with the meals.

Then from Navasota we got on 90 to Anderson to 1774. At the corner of 1774 and 105 there were more bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush and Paul pulled to the shoulder to let Edith out. That was in Plantersville, TX. While there Erwin received a call from Rick's Auto Shop that the Jeep was ready to be picked up.

Wonder why Edith has to squat to take pictures?

On way back to Paul and Patty’s house we stopped at Montgomery “New Cemetery” that was established in 1886.

Paul and Patty dropped us off at Rick's Auto and they went home.  The rear axle differential needed lube and they also fixe the rear brake signal. Now the Jeep drives fine.  It was not as much as we thought it would be.

We took a nap for a short while, then went over to Patty's house to watch the movie "Red".  Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Mary -Louise Parker, among others, were stars in it. We enjoyed the movie.

Till we meet again!
